Mission Statement

The Accounting Department at Albright College is committed to preparing students to assume dynamic leadership roles in their professions and in their communities. From the moment our students step onto our campus, they are welcomed with open arms and caring hearts by professors and other members of the faculty who are dedicated to helping them reach their academic and career goals.

The Accounting Program emphasizes the importance of critical thinking, both oral and written communication skills, and analytical skills. Our graduates are prepared for careers in public, private, governmental and not-for-profit accounting or continued study in graduate school.

Our curriculum is designed to provide a stimulating environment; students are encouraged to go beyond classroom lectures and passive acquisition of information. We encourage them to be active learners; they are engaged in projects that emphasize analytical thinking, independent research, and oral and written communications of research findings. They are also required to have a decent working knowledge of electronic (excel) spreadsheet, word processing, and PowerPoint.

Most of our graduates attain the certified public accountants (CPA) designation, some join corporations, government or not-for-profit organizations. Our placement rate is about 92% or better.
