Technology is everywhere around us, from digital cameras to computers, ipods and blogs. It is constantly changing and evolving. Platforms, hardware, software, communication tools - there are no constants to plan around. Just when you think something is mastered, it changes again. This is just how technology works--and I love it! Teaching people to understand the changing face of technology and the challenge of implementing technology in the classroom is what I do at Albright College. Many students enter my Instructional Technology courses with fear and dread of a semester of computer projects. This is due, in large part, to the lack of training on the basics of how computers and technology devices work, why it's important that technology evolves, and how users can benefit and utilize technology for both professional development and classroom instruction. I believe in training students utililzing a two-pronged approach: Technology as Productivity Tools and Technology as an Instructional Method. Some activities are teacher led, some are constructivist based, and some are a hybrid of both. I try to appeal to as many learning styles as possible to ensure success. |
