Sheila G. Simyak has been a teacher and administrator within the Pennsylvania State Education System for twenty- one years. She was an adjunct professor in the Graduate Program at Albright College for six years and is currently a full time instructor in the Education Department. Mrs. Simyak is the mentor and facilitator for the Student Pennsylvania State Education Association at Albright College. She is a member of Albright’s Professional Council, at 13th and Union Elementary School in the Reading School District, as a curriculum coordinator.

Dr. Seidenstricker focuses of helping Albright’s future teachers to build a strong understanding of how to support the literacy development of children and adolescents. She brings teaching experience in the Pre-K, elementary and middle school settings to her methods classes. She continues to work with classroom teachers and school administrators to bring the most current information in curriculum, assessment and methodology to her coursework. Her clinical work as a reading specialist has contributed significantly to her understanding of how to support struggling readers and writers. She enjoys working with Albright’s teacher certification candidates in the classroom and in the field. Her support of student research has focused on a broad range of topics including urban education, supporting English language learners, integrated middle level science/literacy instruction, early childhood writing instruction, and early childhood management structures.

Douglas Stenberg, Ph.D.

Doug Stenberg has taught in schools, colleges, and universities from Seattle to St. Petersburg, Russia; 2015-16 marks his twenty-seventh year of work in secondary and higher education. Doug completed his undergraduate studies at Bowdoin College and earned his doctorate in Russian Language and Literature at Bryn Mawr College in 1987. He has roughly two years, over ten trips, of in-country experience in the former Soviet Union and Russia. The Golden Apple Award from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was awarded to Doug and his Humanities Team colleagues in 2007 for their course, which integrated art, history, literature, and music.
