Alpha Kappa Delta

Alpha Kappa Delta was founded in 1920 at the University of Southern California by Dr. Emory Bogardus, other sociology faculty, and fourteen graduate students.  In the following year, Dr. Bogardus invited other sociology departments to establish chapters of Alpha Kappa Delta.  The Xi Chapter in Pennsylvania was charted in 1975 at Albright College. 

The society's name is taken from the first letters of three Greek words-- anthropon, katamonthanein, and diakonesein:  "To investigate humanity for the purpose of service." The purpose of this Society is to promote an interest in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition. 

Membership in Alpha Kappa Delta, the Xi Chapter Pennsylvania, is open to Albright students who:
